What is Thyroid Scan?

A thyroid scan is a nuclear imaging technique used to assess the function and structure of the thyroid gland.

Thyroid scans help diagnose various conditions including hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer. This procedure can reveal how well the thyroid is functioning by measuring the uptake of the radioactive material. Areas of increased uptake may indicate hyperfunctioning nodules or Graves' disease, while decreased uptake can suggest hypothyroidism or the presence of a non-functioning nodule.

The procedure is generally safe, with minimal radiation exposure, and does not typically require special preparation. The scan usually lasts about 30 minutes to an hour depends on patients condition. Results are interpreted by a healthcare professional, who will discuss any findings and recommend further steps if necessary.

Important Appointment Guidelines:

Arrive at least 15 minutes early for check-in and preparation. Late arrivals could be subjected to a 30% additional charge.
If you are more than 15 minutes late or do not show, your appointment will be cancelled and you will be charged a 10% cancellation fee.
If you are unable to attend, please reschedule at least 2 hours in advance through the Flabee Care app. You may reschedule up to three times at no extra cost.
Cancellation Policy
a) Cancellations made at least 2 hours before the appointment: No cancellation charges.
b) Cancellations made less than 2 hours before the appointment: A 10% cancellation fee will be charged.
c) No-shows without cancellation: Deposit will be forfeited..
Prices does not include consultation services. Consultation services are available at non-HQ outlets for a separate fee.

Additional Options:

Printed images (RM2-5 per sheet).
If a radiologist report is required, an additional charge of RM25 per section applies. (Please inform the sonographer before your scan if you need this report.)
