What is Hepatobiliary Scintigraphy (HBS)?

A hepatobiliary ultrasound (HBS) scan is a non-invasive and painless imaging examination that uses high-frequency sound waves to evaluate the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and surrounding structures in the upper abdomen.

This scan allows the sonographer to assess the size, shape, and texture of these organs and to detect common conditions such as gallstones, fatty liver disease, liver enlargement, cysts, tumors, inflammation, and bile duct obstruction.

During the procedure, the patient lies comfortably on an examination bed while a clear gel is applied to the skin over the upper right abdomen to facilitate sound wave transmission. A small handheld probe is then gently moved over the area to generate real-time images displayed on a monitor.

The examination typically takes 15 to 30 minutes, involves no radiation, and causes minimal to no discomfort. Patients are usually required to fast for 6 to 8 hours prior to the scan to ensure adequate gallbladder distension, allowing for clearer and more accurate imaging.

NOTICE:

  • Please fast for at least 8 hours before the scan to ensure clearer imaging.

Important Appointment Guidelines:

  • Kindly arrive at least 15 minutes before check-in and preparation. Late arrivals could be subjected to a 30% additional charge.

  • If you are more than 15 minutes late or fail to appear, your appointment will be cancelled and you will be charged a 10% cancellation fee.

  • If you are unable to attend, please reschedule at least 2 hours in advance through the Flabee Care app. You may reschedule up to three times at no extra cost.

  • Cancellation Policy

    a) Cancellations made at least 2 hours before the appointment: No cancellation charges.

    b) Cancellations made less than 2 hours before the appointment: A 10% cancellation fee will be charged.

    c) No-shows without cancellation: Deposit will be forfeited.

  • All refunds will be transferred back as Flabee Credits for your subsequent purchase. No withdrawal of Flabee Credits is allowed.

  • After attending your appointment, you will earn 1 Flabee Point for every Ringgit spent, which may be used to exchange for exclusive vouchers.

  • Prices does not include consultation services. Consultation services are available at non-HQ outlets for a separate fee.

Booking Confirmation:
Once your payment is successful, you will receive a confirmation email from us. Please check your spam folder. If you do not receive a confirmation email, it means your booking was not successfully processed. Please try to book again or contact our Customer Service for assistance.

Digital Delivery:

  • All pictures, videos, and reports will be sent via the Flabee Care app within 3–5 working days. Radiology reports are available upon request and are subject to extra charges.

Additional Options:

  • Printed images (RM2-5 per sheet).

  • If a radiologist report is required, an additional charge of RM25 per section applies. (Please inform the sonographer before your scan if you need this report.)
