What is Hepatobiliary Scintigraphy (HBS)?

Hepatobiliary scintigraphy (HBS) is a nuclear imaging technique used to evaluate the liver, gallbladder, and bile ducts. It can be used to detect a wide range of conditions such as liver cirrhosis, hepatitis, gallstones, pancreatic tumors, and bile duct obstruction.

The scan also helps diagnose various conditions, including gallbladder disease, biliary obstructions, and liver function issues. It is particularly useful for identifying conditions like cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder), biliary leaks, and certain liver tumors. A gamma camera captures images of the tracer as it moves through the hepatobiliary system, providing insights into organ function and detecting abnormalities.

Patients are typically asked to fast for several hours prior to the scan to ensure accurate results. The procedure is generally safe, with minimal radiation exposure. Results from the HBS scan can guide treatment decisions, such as the need for surgery or other interventions.

NOTICE:

  • Please fast for at least 8 hours before the scan to ensure clearer imaging.

Important Appointment Guidelines:

  • Kindly arrive at least 15 minutes before check-in and preparation. Late arrivals could be subjected to a 30% additional charge.

  • If you are more than 15 minutes late or fail to appear, your appointment will be cancelled and you will be charged a 10% cancellation fee.

  • If you are unable to attend, please reschedule at least 2 hours in advance through the Flabee Care app. You may reschedule up to three times at no extra cost.

  • Cancellation policy:

    a) Cancel 2 hours before the scheduled appointment: No cancellation fee

    b) Late cancellation/ No-Show will be subject to a 10% cancellation fee

  • Waiting times may be up to 60 minutes from your scheduled appointment as we prioritise attentive care.

  • All refunds will be transferred back as Flabee Credits for your subsequent purchase. No withdrawal of Flabee Credits is allowed.

  • After attending your appointment, you will earn 1 Flabee Point for every Ringgit spent, which may be used to exchange for exclusive vouchers.

Booking Confirmation:
Once your payment is successful, you will receive a confirmation email from us. Please check your spam folder. If you do not receive a confirmation email, it means your booking was not successfully processed. Please try to book again or contact our Customer Service for assistance.

Digital Delivery:

  • All images, videos, and reports will be sent via Flabee Care app within 3-5 working days.

Additional Options:

  • Printed images (RM2-5 per sheet).

  • If a radiologist report is required, an additional charge of RM25 per section applies. (Please inform the sonographer before your scan if you need this report.)
