What is Brain Scan?
A brain scan ultrasound, also known as a cranial ultrasound, is a non-invasive imaging technique used to examine the brain, primarily in infants. It employs high-frequency sound waves to create detailed images of the brain's structures. This method is typically performed through the soft spots (fontanelles) of a baby's skull, as their bones are not fully fused, allowing sound waves to pass through.
Cranial ultrasounds are often used to detect conditions such as brain hemorrhages, hydrocephalus (fluid accumulation in the brain), or developmental abnormalities. It is especially useful in premature infants, who are at higher risk for these conditions.
This procedure is safe, painless, and does not use ionizing radiation, making it ideal for fragile newborns. However, its effectiveness diminishes in older children and adults due to the ossification of the skull, which blocks ultrasound waves.

Important Appointment Guidelines:
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early before your appointment.
If you are more than 15 minutes late, your appointment will be cancelled or you may be charged an additional 30% late arrival fee.
If you are unable to attend, please reschedule in advance through the Flabee Care app. You are allowed to reschedule up to three times at no additional cost.
Waiting time may take up to 60 minutes from the scheduled time as we prioritise attentive care.

A paediatric brain ultrasound is performed to assess brain development and detect any potential abnormalities or neurological conditions in infants and young children.
